Help me study for my Law class. I’m stuck and don’t understand.
Consider the theoretical explanations (biology, learning, moral development, workgroup influences) from Chapter 4 along with the control elements (authority, power persuasion, force, discretion) presented in Chapter 5.
Identify the combination of one theory and one control that you believe make it more likely that a law enforcement officer will do the wrong thing.
Identify the combination of one theory and one control that you believe make it more likely that a law enforcement officer will do the right thing.
The key issue here is being able to critically analyze the influences that impact behavior. It is unlikely that there is only one perfect combination. You might decide that biology/genetics plays a large role in the development of personality and therefore significantly impacts ethical decision making (Pollock, 2019, p. 81). If an individual comes from a family where there is no history of criminality or deviant behavior that it sets the stage for a person to make the right decisions. You might also decide that discretion is a key element of police control that plays a significant role in police decision making. So perhaps you would identify this combination as one where law enforcement will likely do the right thing….and explain why. Make sure that you provide proper APA citations when describing the ethical systems. Do not write in first person. Always double space. The word count for this assignment is 600-900 words. Please include the word count at the end of your paper and make sure you include your name.
