I need help with a History question. All explanations and answers will be used to help me learn.
For this discussion, you should write at least one paragraph (5-7 sentences) answering the statement/question below by Wednesday and the follow up paragraph by responding to a classmate by Sunday. You are welcome to comment on other students’ paragraphs, but you will only earn points for one follow up (see the Syllabus for more info). Your points are based on both your comment and your follow up statements to a classmate. You should be able to use the resources you already have to answer this. If you use outside sources, you must cite. The Bill of Rights are the first 10 Amendments to the Constitution (Pg A-11 near the end of your textbook). Let me know if you have questions. (Please remember the amendments should be capitalized, i.e. “First Amendment,” as well as “Constitution.”)
Also, I’ve assigned this for a few years off and on through semesters. Students usually gravitate toward the Second Amendment, but I want you to look beyond that. If you feel passionately about it, fine, write about it. Let’s also look at the others as well.
*Reminder* Words like “Constitution,” “United States,” “America,” “U.S.,” “Bill of Rights,” and names of amendments (Fourth Amendment) should be capitalized. Also, “national anthem” and “president” aren’t capitalized. You can say “the Bill of Rights is” because it is a set. There’s no need to capitalize “the” in front of “Bill of Rights.” You can say the name of a president (President Washington) and it then needs to be capitalized. Look at the grammar guide for more info.
Describe the importance of the Bill of Rights regarding the establishment of trust and law between the new nation and its citizens. The Bill of Rights has been in the news often in the last decade for a variety of reasons. Do you think the “establishment of trust and law” has been violated? Explain your views. I am looking for your response to include one or more specific amendments and examples. You don’t need any outside sources to successfully complete this, yet you may want to cite by including a link (article, news video, etc.) to strengthen your case.
